Other Projects

The Steel Stewardship Forum’s initial focus is on the two core projects, The Steel Chain Footprint Project and Responsible Steel Project, as this forms the basic structure of the overall entity in the future.

A number of other projects have been identified as potential areas of interest to members and stakeholders. These may be developed into formal projects in the future:

  • Mapping government programs that can support SSF members
  • Life Cycle Assessment case studies
  • Re-use of steel building components
  • Increase in scrap recovery rates
  • Environmental impacts of marine transport
  • Vision for carbon neutral steel/long term CO2 reduction.

In addition to these it is anticipated that the Steel Chain Footprint Project will generate data that will indicate key areas for future projects.
